An ENT consultation is useful for diagnosing conditions affecting the ear, nose, pharynx, larynx, oral cavity and other related structures of the head and neck, and for determining the appropriate treatment, or for monitoring the progression of any existing conditions affecting these organs.
HOW DOES THE CONSULTATION WORK?
To begin with, the specialist will gather as much information as possible about the patient’s medical history and lifestyle, and will review any medical tests the patient may have already undergone.
The ENT specialist will then proceed to carry out:

palpation of the neck,
-
inspection of the oral cavity and pharynx,
-
inspection of the eardrum and the external auditory canal,
-
examination of the inside of the nose and certain associated structures such as the paranasal sinuses and the nasopharynx,
-
removal of any earwax plug found in the external auditory canal (if necessary).
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
No specific preparations are required for an ENT consultation. Patients are advised to bring the following with them:

any previous test results

a list of any medicines they take daily.
