Dentistry is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the teeth, gums and, more generally, the entire oral cavity.
What happens during a dental check-up?
A dental appointment consists of several stages: the initial consultation is designed to enable the dentist to establish the patient’s dental history. This is followed by the second stage, during which the dentist will assess the condition of the patient’s mouth as part of a routine check-up.
If deemed necessary, the dentist may also decide to use a panoramic X-ray (orthopantomogram) to identify problems that are difficult to detect with the naked eye.
